Community Impact

Helping kids and teens in our community not only helps build their sense of self, it also helps our community as a whole.  The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley helps the children in our community understand their potential and creates the building blocks for future leaders. No child is ever turned away due to their inability to pay because we believe every child has the right to a brighter future. We’ve awarded $709,340 in scholarships in 2019 alone, which helped to support 1,097 members from low-income families. And it pays off! For every $1 invested in our work, Boys & Girls Clubs generate $16.08 of positive economic impact in the community. Not to mention, several of our members become youth volunteers! In fact, in a 2019 poll, 81% of our teen members say the volunteer in their communities at least once a year.

National Youth Outcomes Initiative

The National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI) was launched in 2011. This initiative was built to measure the impact of Clubs using a common set of research-informed indicators. NYOI is a tremendous asset to demonstrate impact, support advocacy and resource development, and, most importantly, gain insights to improve performance and make a bigger impact on our Club members. NYOI’s primary tool for gathering outcomes data is a survey administered to Club members each Spring. Our Organization’s NYOI scores are in the top 12% in the country!

These are our 2021 NYOI results.

Creating Future Leaders

We are committed to ensuring that America’s youth, especially those who need us most, graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future and the skills to become successful adults. Exposure to science, technology, engineering, and math is critical during the tween years, when young people’s natural curiosity drives interest, building capacity for success in these essential 21st-century skills. In 2019 alone, we had 12,072 participants across 138 academic programs including:

  • Power Hour Homework Assistance
  • S.T.E.A.M. Classes (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)
  • National Fine Arts Competition
  • Robotics
  • Computer Science Programs
  • Digital Literacy Programs
  • Performing Arts Programs

And their success doesn’t stop there! Our 2017 member survey gave us incredible insights into our members’ ability to lead in our community. When polled:
