5 Fun and Healthy After School Snacks

Easy-to-make and healthy snacks to tie children over until dinner.

Kids often come home hungry from school after expelling energy at sports and concentrating all day. Give them a boost of nutrition and energy with these healthy after school snacks. They’re not much work to create and are filled with flavor and nutrition.

Basic Baked Kale Chips – Kale chip lovers readily agree that once baked kale is out of the oven, it is instantly devoured by snackers of all ages. Simply bake kale with a sprinkle of oil and salt for a few minutes – It couldn’t be easier (or tastier!).

Paprika Chickpeas – Empty a can of chickpeas onto a baking tray, sprinkle with paprika seasoning, and pop in the oven for a few minutes. Once they’re done, your child will get to enjoy a healthier version of chips that are packed with protein without any nasties.

Peanut Butter Energy Bites – Combine peanut butter with chia seeds, chopped walnuts, and oats. Round up the mixture into small balls for simple, quick, easy, and healthy snacking!

Hummus and Pita Bread – Need an instant fix? Grab some hummus, pita bread, and raw carrots. Hummus is an ideal snack because it houses protein and nutrients, quickly banishing your child’s hunger pangs.

Fresh fruit – You can’t go wrong with handing your child a piece of fresh fruit! Bananas, apples, oranges, and grapes are available all year long and, once washed, are perfect for snacking.
