Making Great Futures a Reality

For 25 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley has given thousands of young people in our community a place to belong, discover their strengths, and build a path forward. The proof isn’t just in our numbers, it’s in our members’ own words, and in the leaders they’re becoming.

More Than a Place to Go After School

Every child deserves a safe place to grow. A place where they’re known by name, encouraged to dream bigger, and surrounded by adults who believe in them. At BGC Conejo Valley, that’s not a seasonal commitment; it’s who we are, every day, before school, after school, during breaks, and through the summer.

This commitment is the foundation of our mission – to enhance the lives of young people and their families by providing a positive environment that cultivates academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and citizenship.

The ripple effects go far beyond the Club walls. Today’s Club members are tomorrow’s community leaders, civic voices, and mentors for the next generation.

When we invest in a child, we invest in the entire Greater Conejo Valley community, and the returns are immeasurable.

The Biggest Impact Can’t Be Measured in Numbers

Our programs open doors. But the real transformation happens in the daily moments, like a mentor who asks how your day is going, a staff member who checks in on your homework progress, or a Club that cheers when you try something new. Our members say it best.

Jessica

On finding belonging:

Jessica discovered the Club wasn’t what she expected, but it became exactly what she needed. As a current Keystone member, she reflects on how her mindset shifted:

“A place for growth, community, and a fresh start, where your future is determined by what opportunities you take, not your past. If I had the chance to rewrite the Boys & Girls Clubs mission, that’s what I’d say.”

– Jessica, 11th Grade, Catlin Family Boys & Girls Club, Keystone Member

Esha

On feeling seen:

Esha entered an art contest not knowing what to expect, and found her artwork displayed on a county bus for all to see:

“Seeing my work out in the world showed me a reality I never thought existed: that I had an equal chance to be seen, to be recognized, and to matter, regardless of where I came from.”

– Esha, 9th Grade, Marion & John E. Anderson Boys & Girls Club, Ventura County Art Bus Competition Winner

Blue Quote Marks

On overcoming academic obstacles:

A 7th grader at the Catlin Family Club who was placed in special education classes in elementary school shares how Power Hour gave them the tools to succeed:

“Power Hour is important to me because it keeps me on track and helps me reach my academic goals. That didn’t stop me because of my determination. Power Hour gave me time to get my work done successfully, and the staff helps make sure my grades are checked weekly, if not daily. This month, I have been able to move to two general education classes.”

– Catlin Family Club, 7th Grade Member

Purple Quote Mark

On finding the courage to try:

Kayden arrived at the Club afraid of sports. The staff’s encouragement changed everything:

“The staff motivates you to try new things. Before coming to the Club, I used to fear intense ball sports. Games like football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and dodgeball are now the best games ever. I overcame my fear, and I am now more confident than ever at trying new things.”

– Kayden, 8th Grade, Rocky & Lon Morton Boys & Girls Club

Lauren

On community and connection:

Lauren, an 8th grader, sums up what the Club means at its core:

“The Club helps people find their people.”

– Lauren, 8th Grade

Cristian

On what the Club truly offers:

Cristian, a 7th grader, reflects on why the Club is more than just after-school programming:

“The Boys and Girls Club feels like a safe and welcoming place. The Club gives me a place to be myself and to build friendships — it is more than just a place to go after school. It is a community that helps me become a better person.”

– Cristian, 7th Grade, Cal & Marje Johnston Boys & Girls Club
